REVIEWS
BOOK IDEA REVIEW
Do you have an incredible book idea but haven’t sat down to write it yet? Are you unsure of where to even begin?
In this consultation, we will look at the core concept of your potential book and discuss the best path forward for writing your manuscript via building a solid outline.
MANUSCRIPT REVIEW
If you are looking for a full evaluation of your current draft, this is a great first step. Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes can help you identify issues you may have missed or not intended to make, since you are likely close to the material.
Once you send us your manuscript, we will read it in its entirety and deliver detailed notes about overall thoughts, what’s working well, areas for revision, and recommendations for best steps moving forward.
EDITING
COPYLINE EDIT
Do you have the perfect thing to say but seem unable to connect the brilliant idea from your mind to the manuscript? You might need what I refer to as a copyline edit (copy edit + line edit).
In this stage, we focus directly on sentence structure and take editing paragraph-by-paragraph and line-for-line. We'll make changes throughout the manuscript to enhance your voice and message.
While the focus is on sentence phrasing and paragraph flow, we also help with grammar and punctuation.
PROOFREAD
If you need help with spelling, grammar, or punctuation, this is the editing service for you.
In a proofread, your content will remain intact as we focus specifically on the finer details to tighten up your book.
We take a few passes through the manuscript to make sure your book is polished, professional, and ready for the formatting stage of the publication process.

As part of our commitment to ensure a healthy working relationship, we have a few bonus offers to help save you some headaches and money in the process.

Have some questions? We’ll answer some of them here.
Does my manuscript need to be finished?
Yes. To send you our feedback or perform editing services, we need to go through the entire manuscript.
How long does it take to complete each editing stage?
The duration of the editing process varies based on whether you are utilizing multiple editing services or not. Remember, our focus is on quality. In most cases, a service may take roughly 3-4 weeks followed by a feedback call.
How will I know if you specialize in my type of book?
Our main focus is with manuscripts that are geared toward either adults or young adults that delve into a character's journey of self-discovery, featuring either a physical journey or an exploration of the mind.
Having said that, we always prefer a scheduled call for a one-on-one conversation to make sure you are the right fit for our services and that we are the right fit for your book.
Will I get to keep the rights and royalties for my book?
Since you are self-publishing your book, you will retain 100% of the rights and royalties. We only provide services upfront to help ensure your manuscript is the best that it can be.
Do you offer a payment plan?
We do offer payment plans on a case-by-case basis to best fit each unique situation. Additionally, your $25 application fee will be automatically included toward the payment of any service purchased.
Are your services available year-round?
Technically speaking, yes. We have much more availability during the summer months, though. Outside of that time frame, our availability is more limited.
If any other questions arise, please feel free to contact Oak Valley Media and we will assist you in any way we can.
At the end of the day . . .
Your book deserves to exist no matter how many publishers might disagree. In the age where more and more people are publishing their own books, there truly is no better time to finally make your author dream become a reality.
Our availability is limited, so if you are serious about getting your book done and out in the world for readers to enjoy, apply today!
